Highams Park is a unique part of Walthamstow, being the last of the London postcodes (E4) before you begin to filter out into early parts of Essex, such as Woodford Green (IG8) and Epping. Mainly consisting of Victorian and 1930s terraced houses, however in recent years there has been a rise in developments of purpose built flats, which have brought further prosperity to the area and an array of shopping facilities. With a bustling high street full of local amenities such as cafes, restaurants, bars and shops, Highams Park has the benefits of a London postcode, but with a friendly village feel. Highams Park station centred in the heart of the town, offers a regular over ground service into London Liverpool Street which only takes 26 minutes. Another fantastic characteristic of Highams Park is its comprehensive motorway networks, sitting on top of both the M11 and A406, both connecting to the busy M25. Whilst Highams Park has its strong connection to London, its border lies close to the Essex border of Epping Forest District, with Sewardstone to the north, Woodford Green and Buckhurst Hill to the east and Walthamstow to the south. To the west lie William Girling and King George V reservoirs, and the River Lea. Across the reservoirs, Chingford is connected with Ponders End through the A110 Lea Valley Road, either leading to Edmonton (to the south) or Epping Forest (the north and east).
